Competition, 1st Prize, 2022. Winning proposal for a pedestrian bridge at the estuary where the Qinhuai New River meets the Yangtze River in Nanjing, Jiangsu. Commissioners: Nanjing Municipal Bureau of Planning and Natural Resources (Liu Qinghao, Xing Jialin, Song Jingjing). Collaborators: Junjie Yan and Yiqiu Liu. Local design institute: Architecture and Engineering Co., Ltd. of Southeast University (Sun Xun, Cao Fei, Fei Liang, Zhou Huan, Li Ruiqi). Three pedestrian paths at different spatial levels combine into one monolithic structural system. The structural concept combines a classic arch with a suspended deck and hollow-truss main beams linked to the approach bridges. Modular, prefabricated construction is designed to proceed from the river banks without temporary supports in the river.
